The Castle of Brolio was founded in the Upper Middle Ages by the Ricasoli family and during the centuries it was destroyed many times because of the several battles in which it was involved, last but not least, it was even bombed during WWII.

After the several battles in which it took part, several reconstructions took place and these left their signs in the architecture of this important historical monument: the medieval walls are still in place, but we can also admire neogothic and Romanic details.

It is place in a panoramic position and that was important in order to organize the wakes during battles. Apart from this the landscape around the castle is really beautiful. It its feet we can admire the wineyards of the Ricasoli family, whose main member, Count Bettino Ricasoli, left his sing in history by providing the code of Chianti Wine in 1872, creating the actual Chianti Classico.

The castle is available for visits, for the park and garden tour, for wine tasting and dinners. According to its fascinating character the external visit is very nice for families with kids, wine tasting included for adults.
